Portwell, Inc., a world-leading innovator in the Industrial PC (IPC) market and a member of the Intel® Embedded Alliance, announces the launch of PVS-1A10, a low power, compact DSS system based on Portwell NANO-8044 NANO-ITX form factor embedded board.
“NANO-8044 embedded board is built on a highly integrated two-chip solution, the Intel Atom processor Z5xx series and Intel® System Controller Hub US15W, with total TDP less than 5 watts. Combining GADIWA-P0901’ 90W industrial POWER supply, fanless NANO-8044 embedded board and a standard PCI-Ex1 card, PVS-1A10 is a low power DSS system, ideal for small and fanless DSS edge devices such as IP Video Server (encoder),”explains Roven Lai, assistant vice president of Portwell, Inc.. “Besides the low power requirements, we also made small form factor a priority. When designing PVS-1A10, we allocated as little space possibly needed by the standard PCIEx1 card. The objective was to design the smallest rectangle chassis possible," Roven continues. "PVS-1A10 DSS system measures at only 160mm wide × 221.86mm length × 75mm height.” “In addition to that, we solved the low power and small size challenge without compromising platform features potentially required by other embedded markets: four USB ports; one VGA port and one RS232/422/485 port; one RJ-45 port,”Roven adds. “To embellish the outer chassis, we used arcs on the top cover and front panel,”says Roven.“We used simple frames to assemble this system for labor-hour and cost-efficiency purposes, which we will pass on lower system price and shorter time-to-market to end-customers.” “The Intel Atom processor Z5xx series is scalable from 1.1GHz or 1.6GHz all within 5 watts TDP, which enables DSS systems designers to customize video resolution, video encoding and video analytics needs while maintaining the same small form factor and power dissipation efficiency,”said Jonathan Luse, director of marketing, Low Power Embedded Products Division, Intel.“Atom-based platforms enable DSS solutions with real-time video performance, which will be increasingly beneficial as the industry transitions from analog to pure IP surveillance solutions.”
PVS-1A10 is now available in mass production. |
