Portwell, Inc., a world-leading innovator in the Industrial PC (IPC) market and a member of the Intel® Embedded and Communications Alliance, announces CATO-3000, based on the Intel® EP80579 integrated Processor with Intel® QuickAssist Technology, the new Intel® system-on-chip (SoC) solution with security features built-in.The EP80579 design includes an Intel architecture complex based on the Intel® Pentium® M processor, integrated memory controller hub, integrated I/O controller hub and flexible, integrated I/O on a single chip, which facilitates packet transmission compared to multi-chip solutions. The SoC integration provides direct access to memory, storage, computation, and I/O process yet offers lower power consumption ideal for thermally-constrained environments. Furthermore, the Intel® EP80579 Integrated Processor has three built-in 10/100/1000 Ethernet MAC ports for compact, single device designs and significant cost effectiveness.
Available now,CATO-3000 with the Intel EP80579 Integrated Processor with Intel® QuickAssist Technology is scalable from 600MHz,1.066GHz,and 1.2GHz,with security features such as IPSec,SSL,etc.,and TDM for supporting IP telephony. Portwell is proudly launching its first Intel EP80579-based product line,a 1U rack-mount system with multiple Ethernet port options,PCI-E slot,LCD module,Ethernet bypass segment and various memory and storage options for your own customization with your logo prints.
"Luke Chen (President / CTO of Caswell,Inc.) commented "With Portwell CATO-3000,we can easily migrate our Linux Kernel with Intel’s driver support for our current NAS product line expansion; besides,we are planning to utilize the security features to build our NVR for our next generation product line up. We are certainly looking at its packet handling performance, data compression, and hardware based security options. After all,Intel has really rocked the Network Application and appliance world with these SoCs."
"The integrated accelerators in the Intel EP80579 Integrated Processor support Intel QuickAssist Technology for bulk encryption, hashing and public/private key generation, and data path and TDM acceleration," said Rose Schooler general manager,Performance Products Division,Intel. "These new SoCs will help customers develop a wide range of applications from security appliances to VoIP gateways."
With this CATO-3000 launch,Portwell is not only providing customers the hardware platform, but has also built an ecosystem software team to provide further customer driver, applications and OS support. CATO-3000 is only one of the plans in Portwell’s Intel EP80579-based roadmap,Portwell has planned a series of product lineups for different applications and nelds. "We would like to provide our customers with "ONE" unified security platform,"TO" your maximum satisfaction, with "THREE" Ps offerings-Plug,Perform,and Protect" said by Polo Huang ,Sales VP of Portwell,Inc.
CATO-3000 is the best fit for platforms for Network Security such as Firewall,VPN,IDS/IPS,Anti-Spam,Anti-Virus,or UTM; Network Management such as Router,RAS gateway,QoS,Wireless,or Streaming; Network Voice such as VoIP,or SIP,Network Storage such as NAS,or NVR. New potential applications like Home Network Control Unit, and storage server gateways for all home Internet access devices and communications with single hardware server management are now possible.
Portwell Communication Appliance Services team was established in 2000 with their first project, called Lava Falls, based on Intel architecture and has released several platforms since based on Intel chipsets. Portwell has won and been approved by world leading Networking Players with awesome projects.
