Portwell Inc., a world-leading innovator in the Industrial PC (IPC) market and a Premier member of the Intel® Internet of Things (IoT) Solutions Alliance, has been dedicated to developing trustable IPC systems with high reliability. In 2014, Portwell proudly announces RTS-1771, a fan-less and rugged full IP65 Box PC system that can fit in all environmental extremes. Powered by the low power Intel® Atom™ processor N2600, RTS-1771 is powerful but not power hungry.
Unlike desktop and laptop PCs, IPCs must adapt to factories, power plants, transportation, bitterly hot or cold environments and so on, but with the most advanced mechanical design, RTS-1771 can support a wide temperature range of -30~65°C and automatically detect power input voltage, with tolerance of 90~264V AC, making it easily adapt to the most critical environments for harsh industrial purposes. With its whole chassis certificated by IP65, RTS-1771 has proven its waterproof and dustproof abilities to survive in any indoor as well as outdoor conditions; in addition, its aluminum cover with special coating and painting technology makes the rugged Box PC not only strong but also antirust and sustainable under exposure to the sun and rain. Moreover, RTS-1771 shows an unbelievable anti-spray characteristic rendering it especially an ideal platform for applications by the sea.
“The fan-less design ensures silent operation, improved reliability and reduced maintenance costs,” says Penny Liao, Portwell′s product manager. Furthermore, the unique and innovative design features rich waterproof I/O connectors including display output via HDMI port and BIOS console redirection by RS-232 port, one Gigabit Ethernet with PXE and 1KV Surge protection support and two CANBUS, one RS-232/422/485 and one USB port. “Regarding storage capacity, RTS-1771 is equipped with a 2.5” SLC SSD with data loss prevention technology so that the system can keep valuable system data safe when unexpected shutdown or power loss occurs,” Liao adds.
In addition to being a reliable Box PC, RTS-1771 views its specialty as an intelligent control system. RTS-1771 offers a 2 x 16 OLED display and keypad for friendly installation and operation interface so that users can easily operate the system. Also, as this Box PC system can support both horizontal and vertical wall mount kits, users can place the rugged system however and wherever they wish. Last but not least, equipped with chains linking between connector covers and the chassis, RTS-1771 is so foolproof that these waterproof connectors can remain in perfect status.
Now, RTS-1771 has been successfully implemented in monitoring the turbulence of wind power, where the system plays an important role in verifying and optimizing the wind turbine′s performance by measuring the wind turbine power curves, which is one of the key issues faced in the wind industry today. It also has one 24V DC and 10 Ampere power output supplying power for additional devices; for example, the Box PC can provide power output for monitors on wide turbulence.
“We believe this innovative and creative Box PC, RTS-1771, can bring industrial control systems to an unimaginable new era,” says Penny Liao. With many I/O ports, it is open for versatile market applications.
