Portwell Unveils Rugged, Compact Embedded System Powered by Intel Atom® x7000 Series for Next-Gen Edge Computing

Compact, Rugged, and Ready for Industrial Edge

Portwell, Inc., a leading innovator in industrial and embedded computing, proudly introduces the LYNX-8110—a compact, robust, and fanless embedded system powered by the Intel Atom® x7000 Processor Series. Engineered for Industry 4.0, smart automation, and AI-driven edge applications, the LYNX-8110 delivers rugged reliability, high efficiency, and real-time performance in space-constrained environments. With its scalable architecture and energy-efficient design, it’s built to meet the demands of modern industrial edge deployments.

Advanced Intel Atom® x7000 Architecture and Industrial-Grade Features

Central to the LYNX-8110 is the Intel Atom® x7433RE processor, part of the Intel Atom® x7000 Series. Featuring four computing cores and advanced instruction sets optimized for IoT and industrial workloads, this processor—built on Intel’s Gracemont microarchitecture, a proven foundation for low-power, high-efficiency edge computing—delivers enhanced single-thread performance and energy efficiency. It’s ideal for edge AI inference, data acquisition, and gateway computing in demanding environments.

Purpose-built for harsh industrial conditions, the LYNX-8110 combines a fanless design that reduces dust ingress and mechanical failure risks with a compact form factor suited for space-constrained cabinets and edge nodes. It supports a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to 70°C and a 12V–30V wide-range DC input, ensuring stable performance across diverse field deployments. Onboard LPDDR5 wide-temp memory and built-in eMMC storage provide reliable data retention and OS-friendly capacity for critical automation tasks. Modular I/O expansion and dual mounting options (wall-mount or DIN-rail) offer flexible deployment tailored to varied industrial site requirements. LYNX-8110 supports M.2 2242 Key M for SATA SSD and M.2 2230 Key E for Wi-Fi expansion, enabling high-speed storage and wireless connectivity in compact industrial systems. It also features HDMI® and USB-C with DisplayPort Alt Mode, providing flexible display options for HMI interfaces, system diagnostics, and visualization of operational data at the edge.
