Portwell Expands Medical AI Computing Portfolio with Wincomm’s New WMP-xxS Series Medical AI Panel PC

Portwell Medical AI Panel PC deployed in clinical diagnostic environment

Portwell, Inc., a global provider of industrial computing and embedded computing solutions, announced the expansion of its medical computing portfolio following the launch of Wincomm’s upgraded WMP-xxS Series medical AI panel PCs, bringing together Portwell’s expertise in embedded and edge computing with Wincomm’s established capabilities in medical-grade computing to address the growing demand for AI-enabled healthcare applications.

The new series includes the 19-inch WMP-19S, 21.5-inch WMP-22S and 23.8-inch WMP-24S, providing medical device developers and healthcare solution providers with scalable platform options for diagnostic rooms, operating rooms and other clinical environments.

Advancing Medical Edge AI with CPU and GPU Computing

As AI becomes increasingly integrated into medical imaging, clinical decision support and surgical workflows, healthcare systems require greater computing performance closer to the point of care. WMP-19S/22S/24S Series addresses these requirements with support for 14th/13th/12th Gen Intel®Core™ and Intel®Core™ Series 2 processor options, paired with the Intel®Q670E chipset.

In addition, the platforms support up to 96GB dual-channel DDR5 memory and optional NVIDIA MXM RTX PRO 4000 or A4500 discrete graphics. As a result, they provide high-performance CPU and GPU resources for demanding medical imaging and AI workloads. This heterogeneous computing architecture can support applications such as AI-assisted diagnosis, image reconstruction, beamforming and intraoperative image analysis, helping medical solution providers process data locally while reducing reliance on data transfers to external computing systems.

For integration with medical imaging equipment, WMP-xxS Series also provides a PCIe x4 expansion slot, GPI interface and dedicated Video-In connectivity with RGB color adjustment. The integrated GPI capture-card control solution supports real-time image capture and recording, while color adjustment capabilities help maintain visual consistency and accuracy for applications in which image quality is critical.

Designed for Medical Environments, Deployment and Manageability

Beyond computing performance, clinical systems must prioritize safety, hygiene, and compliance throughout their deployment lifecycle. Specifically, the WMP-19S/22S/24S Series complies with EN 60601-1 and EN 60601-1-2 medical safety and electromagnetic compatibility requirements. Furthermore, it features an antibacterial housing engineered for hygiene-sensitive environments.

An optional UPS battery helps maintain system operation during temporary power interruptions, while Wincomm’s proprietary i-Control technology coordinates system power management, computing operation and thermal control to optimize system operation under demanding workloads.

For healthcare organizations managing larger device fleets, the series supports MECM, DFCI, Microsoft Autopilot and Intel®vPro® Enterprise, enabling more efficient system deployment, configuration and remote management. These capabilities help healthcare IT teams simplify device administration while supporting increasingly connected clinical environments.

Strengthening Portwell and Wincomm’s Smart Healthcare Strategy

Wincomm’s WMP-xxS Series further complements Portwell’s growing medical and Edge AI computing portfolio. By combining Portwell’s embedded computing, system integration and Edge AI expertise with Wincomm’s medical panel PC and medical certification capabilities, the two companies are positioned to offer customers a broader range of computing platforms—from embedded medical systems and AI computing platforms to integrated medical panel PCs for point-of-care applications.

The WMP-xxS Series also reflects Wincomm’s INNOVALUE philosophy, integrating innovation with long-term product value. The platforms comply with RoHS and REACH requirements, incorporate recyclable materials, support ISO 14067 carbon-footprint assessment initiatives, and carry CE, FCC and VCCI Class B certifications.

As AI continues to reshape medical imaging, diagnosis and clinical workflows, Portwell and Wincomm will continue to leverage their complementary technologies and engineering expertise to help medical device manufacturers and healthcare solution providers accelerate the development of intelligent, connected and application-ready medical computing solutions.
