Portwell, Inc., a global company in industrial embedded computing solutions, launched LYNX-812D, a compact and fanless embedded system powered by Intel Atom® x7000RE Series processors. Designed to address the growing demand for reliable, low‑power, and long‑lifecycle edge computing platforms, LYNX-812D delivers optimized performance for industrial automation, smart transportation, and robotics applications. As industries accelerate digital transformation and edge AI deployment, the need for compact yet scalable computing platforms continues to rise. LYNX-812D is purpose-built to provide stable performance, flexible connectivity, and industrial-grade durability in space-constrained environments.

Optimized Performance and Industrial-Grade Reliability

Powered by Intel Atom® x7000RE Series processor, LYNX-812D delivers efficient multi-core processing with strong power efficiency, making it well suited for real-time edge control and data acquisition workloads. Built on Intel’s architecture with long-term availability support, the platform ensures extended lifecycle stability for industrial deployments. The system features onboard wide-temperature LPDDR5 memory and built-in eMMC storage, eliminating socket-related vibration risks while providing reliable OS-ready storage for automation environments.

To enhance communication stability, LYNX-812D integrates 1 KV-isolated CAN-FD and RS-485 interfaces, ensuring consistent and protected data transmission in electrically harsh environments. Its wide operating temperature range (-40°C to 70°C) and 12V–30V wide-range DC input enable dependable operation under fluctuating power conditions and extreme climates. Additionally, the M.2 B-Key expansion slot supports 4G, 5G, and AI modules, offering flexible system scalability for remote and data-driven deployments.

“LYNX-812D is engineered to balance computing efficiency, durability, and modular flexibility,” said Patricia Chou, Product Manager of LYNX-812D. “By combining Intel Atom® x7000RE power‑efficient performance with industrial-grade isolation and wide‑temperature design, Portwell provides customers with a dependable edge computing node that reduces integration complexity and enhances long-term operational stability.”

Designed for AGV/AMR, Robotics, Transportation, and Intelligent Field Control

With the rapid growth of smart factories and autonomous systems, compact embedded platforms are increasingly deployed in AGV/AMR systems, robotic motion control, and vehicle-based edge control nodes. The LYNX-812D’s isolated CAN-FD and RS-485 interfaces make it especially suitable for vehicle and robotics fieldbus control networks, ensuring deterministic and interference-resistant communication.

Its robust thermal design and fanless architecture minimize maintenance requirements while enabling silent and dust‑resistant operation, ideal for transportation systems, building automation controllers, and distributed industrial gateways. The modular expansion capability allows system integrators to incorporate cellular connectivity or AI acceleration modules based on project-specific requirements.

“Industrial applications today demand computing platforms that can adapt to diverse communication protocols and deployment conditions,” Patricia Chou added. “LYNX-812D offers the flexibility required for AGV fleet management, robotic motion synchronization, smart transportation control, and building automation systems, empowering customers to accelerate system integration and reduce time-to-market.”
