Modern food processing lines must balance production efficiency, quality inspection, hygiene, and traceability. Natural product variations, reflective packaging, and frequent changeovers can make conventional rule-based vision inspection difficult. Computing platforms deployed near processing equipment must also withstand moisture, splashes, and frequent washdowns while supporting real-time AI processing and equipment integration. Industrial cameras capture product or packaging images for on-site AI inference. Inspection results can be sent to the HMI and PLC for grading, reject handling, or equipment control, while inspection data is forwarded to MES or quality systems for production records and traceability.
WTP-9K66: Integrated Edge Computing and HMI Platform
1. Up to 22.5 TOPS for Real-Time AI Vision Inspection
The WTP-9K66 series is powered by the Intel®Core™ Ultra 5 processor 125U, integrating CPU, GPU, and NPU computing resources with up to 22.5 TOPS of AI performance. Combined with industrial cameras, AI models, and machine vision software, the platform can perform on-site analysis of product appearance, packaging, labels, and seals. Processing inspection data directly at the production line helps shorten the workflow from AI inference to PLC control and enables faster response to detected defects. TPM 2.0 and Intel®vPro® technology, supported with selected CPU configurations, further enhance system security and device management capabilities.
2. IP69K Stainless-Steel Design for Washdown Environments
The WTP-9K66 features a sealed SUS304 stainless-steel enclosure with a CNC-machined flat surface, IP66/IP69K protection, and a fanless design. Optional IP67-rated M12 waterproof interfaces are also available to support food production environments exposed to frequent washdowns, moisture, and corrosive conditions. Combined with i-Control thermal management and power-saving technologies, as well as a customizable -20°C to 50°C operating temperature range, the platform supports 24/7 operation while helping reduce maintenance requirements.
3. HMI, PLC, and MES Integration for Real-Time Control and Quality Traceability
Through appropriate communication interfaces and application software, the WTP-9K66 can integrate industrial cameras, barcode or RFID readers, PLCs, and other inspection devices into the production workflow. AI inspection results can be sent directly to the PLC to trigger product grading, reject handling, or equipment actions, while inspection data can be transferred to MES, SCADA, or quality databases. This creates a connected workflow from quality inspection and machine control to production records and batch-level traceability.
